This 'Ave Maria' was once attributed to the late Renaissance Italian composer, Giulio Caccini but is now ascribed to 20th century Russian composer, Vladimir Vavilov. Here is an extended (one hour) instrumental version played by cellist Julian Lloyd-Webber. Beautiful background music for prayer or meditation!

The opera tells the true story of a Carmelite convent whose nuns are condemned to death during the French Revolution. A central figure of the Franco-Flemish School, Josquin is considered among the greatest composers of the Renaissance and had a profound influence on the music of 16th-century Europe. His Ave Maria - Virgo Serena motet was one of the most famous pieces of the 15th Century. It is sung here by the British ensemble, Stile Antico.
